The best place to be, even in October. The beach is quiet, the water is gorgeous and cold, and the sharks have (mostly) left for warmer waters down the coast. Bring a sandwich, a sweatshirt, and some beach games.
Best beaches nearby are Longnook, Balston, Coastguard, and Race Point. No beach pass required given it's off-season.
Whales love the clouds, or so I'm told. If it's overcast, all aboard the Provincetown boats to scour the seas for hints of a whale's tail.
Don't plan to look smashing after. You will get wet and you WILL love it.
Seafood lovers will rejoice. As will others! Notable spots:
-Days Deli (fuss and no fuss lobster rolls, and other sandwiches, for a quick to-go bite)
-Mac's Seafood (the Wellfleet one, sit down dining, great ambiance)
-Winslow's Tavern (CUTE, WE REPEAT, CUTE!)
-Truro General Store (great BEC, great Truro merch)
-Salty Market (pastries!)
-Montano's (one would be insane to eat Montano's for any other meal but a lazy dinner, but go with God)
Bring your clubs, people. If you're into that kinda thing. Highland Links is particularly beautiful, and windy due to its ocean views, so if you lose your ball you can blame it on the strong gales. Chequessett course is another great option.
Book your tee times in advance.
Mini golf courses are also abundant on the upper Cape. The Red Barn has long been a Karczewski family favorite, if you're willing to drive the extra few minutes to Eastham.
And go to Truro Vineyards. The wine is good, and there are food trucks, sometimes. You will not find a young Dennis Quaid there, but you will find some good vibes and a buzz.
In Provincetown, because why not. Go to a show. Check out the galleries because they are legit. Visit the Nor'East Beer Garden, the site of Kelly's first and last restaurant job. Eat Spiritus Pizza, which is owned by our friends, and was also mentioned in Anthony Bourdain's memoir.
